What are your thoughts on the early voting going on?

May 30, 2010 - 11:55 pm 2 Comments

I know it is essential for our soldiers but whats the rush?

Soldiers vote absentee, not early. I had to vote early because I’m going to be out of town on orders on election day. Otherwise, I would have waited until then. I had to wait in line for two and a half hours today.

Do you lets polls affect your voting?

If a poll says your cadidate has only 3% would you still vote for him or consider it a waste?

Forget polls.
The only true polls are the final election.

should Obama come up with a national poll for Americans to vote on legalizing and taxing marijuana?

i think if that proposal passed, it will solve a lot of political issues such as health care. what do you think?

The problem is that everyone would grow their own and it couldn’t be taxed.

If every single issue came to a national, democratic vote, how happy would or liberals be with the result?

For example, someone brings up banning abortion, so it goes to a vote.
Yes, this is exactly what Michael Moore (and his rhetoric) is pushing–a land where the majority decides how the majority is going to live!

Think about it liberals…

The population of Canada would quintuple within the first 30 minutes.

What happens to the votes that have gone to the Greens, for example?

Have they ‘stolen’ votes from Rudd or are those votes transferred to Labour at the end of the election. I understand the Green vote is important but by not voting for one of the parties on the 2 party preferred basis, could they, in fact, be throwing the election to someone who does not actually have the majority of the vote?

Australia has a preferential voting electoral systems in which voters rank a list or group of candidates in order of preference.

In single-winner elections a preferential ballot paper can be redistributed according to the voter’s expressed preference. Votes allocated to a candidate that is to be excluded from the election counting process are redistributed and allocated to the subsequent continuing candidate in order of the voter’s indicated preference.

If a voter follows a how-to-vote card (for the lower house) provided by their first preference party, then essentially the subsequent preferences are directed according to their first party’s preferred alliance.

What is the point of voting if you don’t vote for a Democrat or a Republican?

May 30, 2010 - 11:55 pm 8 Comments

I am not very political, but it seems as if ones votes would pretty much be wasted if they were not for either a Dem or a Repub. What is the point of voting independent, etc?

Well they sometimes take enough votes away that one party doesn’t win. Supposedly Gore lost due to Ralph Nader and his party. If you notice the last three times the different parties got booted out due to crummy performance and the people got sick of what they were doing.

The Democrats get booted and then the Republicans get booted and now looks like the Democrats are about to get the boot again. Due to the "good ole boy" system and payoff deals and the money the two big time parties have it would be hard for someone to step up. When Ross Perot ran Clinton got 40 million votes and bush a few less, but he got 20 million, which were votes meant for the Republicans and he had the money on his own the run on.

Maybe someday it will happen. oNe other things is that our House and Senate members had donated to them over $3.2 billion* in 2008, you can use the search engine at the site below to see who got what, from whom and how they voted. That is a ton of money from the lobbyists and this year when the elderly and handicapped on fixed incomes are told there is no inflation, they will be getting a 10% raise! It has to stop and get back to doing what is good for the country and not corporations.

But the third party can pull some votes and make it hard for the Democrats or Republicans and maybe get what they want if one of the parties decide to embrace whatever they are pushing.

Happy New Year!

whats a good strategy before going to the voting polls?

May 28, 2010 - 12:02 pm 5 Comments

please help me!

Your strategy is to read up on the candidates and vote for the candidate that represents your values the best. I am not going to tell you to vote one way or another because that’s not what you asked for. It is your vote, it is your constitutional right to freely pick your leader and you should do so by educating and informing yourself of the important issues and make an educated choice. Most importantly, show up at the voting booth even if the weather is bad; many Americans died so that you may have this right.
