When did early voting begin in national elections?

Sorry, I know about absentee voting, but I don’t remember seeing people lining up for weeks before polls open.

Absentee voting has been around for a long time.

Colorado Springs Early Voting

June 4, 2010 - 7:34 pm 2 Comments

This was shot today, October 31, the last day of early voting in Colorado Springs, at the downtown Centennial Hall polling place and the Citadel Mall Central polling place.

After a lawsuit against the AG Coffman over the thousands he purged from the voter rolls, and 2 controversies with clerk and recorder, Balink in El Paso County, and especially at Colorado College, voters were faced with long lines at the 3 polling place for a county of 590,000, where there were 6 early voting places for the midterm election of 2006.

Read about the voter suppression attempt at Colorado College here:

and here:

http://coloradoindependent.com/9216/el-paso-county-democrats-claim-voter-disenfranchisement

watch the rally and march with Senator Salazar, when the college went to vote en masses:

Senator Ken Salazar, Representative Michael Merrifield, party chair John Morris, candidate Hal Bidlack, and other luminaries came to Colorado College after 2 more attempts by the El Paso County clerk and recorder, Bob balink, to suppress the vote at the college with LIES, deceptions, and threats to keep the students from voting for Obama.

After a great rally and some great BlueGrass music, hundreds marched down to the central polling place at Centennial Hall to vote en masse. balink had closed half of the 6 early voting precincts this year in a further suppression tactic, for which he is infamous.

balink, a republicon, sent false threats, warning of possible consequences if a student registered to vote in Colorado and is claimed as a dependent on a tax return in another state or fails to register his or her vehicle in Colorado. He claimed that students who register in Colorado must abandon any prior residency in other states and makes their departure from their parents homes permanent. BULLSHIT.

He hired a known GDop hatchetman lawyer, Erik Groves of Denver-based Zakhem-Atherton LLC (303-228-1200), to threaten students with IRS problems for their parents (costing the parents the $3,500 tax deduction) and vehicle registration fines and impoundment for voting, after telling the bald faced LIE that they couldn’t vote in Colorado if they were claimed as a dependent on their parent’s taxes in another state.

This is bullshit, and its not supported by law, said state Senator John Morse. As state Party Chairwoman Pat Waak pointed out, he did NOT send this information to the conservative Air Force Academy college, UCCS, PPCC, or any other college, but CC.

He later withdrew that directive and apologized for “misinterpreting” state law (BULLLSHIT) an then tried the IRS and vehicle threat to suppress the student vote.

There is talk that the Early Voting going on will affect the winners of the caucus and primary, your thoughts?

June 2, 2010 - 8:00 pm 3 Comments

Other states have been protesting that New Hampshire and Iowa shouldn’t be the first to vote , seeing that both are not really "key" states. There is talk that some voters are intentionally going to not vote for the winning candidates of either the Iowa Caucus or the New Hampshire Primary for that reason alone. Do you think that’s true.

not mine

What are your thoughts on the early voting going on?

I know it is essential for our soldiers but whats the rush?

Soldiers vote absentee, not early. I had to vote early because I’m going to be out of town on orders on election day. Otherwise, I would have waited until then. I had to wait in line for two and a half hours today.

Who is allowed to know the current results of early voting?

Is there a way for me to find out the tally so far?

I just asked that a bit ago, and I got two answers..

Regarding EARLY VOTING, what is the nation-wide percentage of Democrats to Republicans who have already voted?

May 25, 2010 - 8:18 pm 3 Comments

Are these figures reliable statistically in terms of projecting the winner in the presidential race?

I looked this up most of the morning. Just about 60% of the people that that have voted are Democrat. It does not matter much.

This just shows how much more enthusiastic Obama supporters are.

Remember when the Primary in Texas went to Hillary, but the caucus went overwhelmingly for Obama?

It is a lot harder to caucus than vote. Obama people could not wait to vote. It does not mean that Grandma and Grandpa will not make it to the polls Tuesday.

McCain supporters heckle North Carolina early voters

Supporters of Republican nominee Sen. John McCain heckle people lined up to vote early in Fayetteville, North Carolina, not far from where Sen. Barack Obama held a rally hours earlier. Nearly all voters in line at polling place were Obama supporters. Oct. 19, 2008
