I’m 18 and i want to vote this coming election, my father is in the military and we just moved from Washington state to Florida. i have been living in Florida for about 2 or 3 weeks. I’ve heard in order to be a resident of a state you have had to be living there for at least 1 yr, but I’m not sure. Am i a residant from Washington or Florida? And can I register online?
Members of our military & their dependents are permitted to retain residency in the state they resided when starting active duty, or to establish residency where they actually reside presently.
Not sure of the specifics in Florida, but most states allow you to register for voting after 30 days at your home.
Most states allow for voter registration online, & mail your card as a way of verifying your residency. In most cases you must be registered 30 days before the next election to participate.
Check out the website for Florida (www.florida.gov) or something similar. It will provide all of the scoop. Do it right away!! The deadline is closer than you think!!
If you choose to select Washington as your home, you will need to provide a permanent address for voter registration, & request an absentee ballot.
Good Luck!!
