Do I need to be registered to vote for the primaries?

My friend told me that all we need is an ID but I thought we needed to be registered.
I live in Texas
Absolutely! Texas law requires that you must be registered to vote at least thirty days before any election.
Even if you are registered, you must present either an ID or a voter registration card when you vote.
If your name does not appear on the registrar’s list, you may cast a provisional ballot, However, there is no guarantee that a provisional vote will count. The ballot board will decide if it will count or not. If you are not registered, then it is highly unlikely that the ballot board will allow it to be counted.

Believe me voting is a waste of time. Haven’t voted for 16 years. The last election (McCain/Obama) was so sick I wil never vote again. If you think it makes a difference go ahead.
