President Lyndon Johnson – Speech on Voting Rights
View the full speech here: http://millercenter.org/scripps/archive/speeches/detail/3386
Johnson states that every man should have the right to vote and that the civil rights problems challenge the entire country, not one region or group. The President asks Congress to help him pass legislation that dictates clear, uniform guidelines for voting regardless of race or ethnicity and that allows all citizens to register to vote free from harassment.

Burundi set for one-name vote
The central African nation of Burundi is set to hold its first presidential election since the end of its nearly 16-year-long civil war between ethnic Tutsis and Hutus.
Normally the poll would be praised by the international community. However, there is one problem: the vote ballot consists of just one name.
The incumbent president, Pierre Nku-run-ziza, is the only candidate after six opposition candidates all decided to boycott the poll, alleging fraud in earlier local elections.
Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb reports from Bujumbura, Burundi’s capital.
