I really think that paper would be easier. Less problems, more accurate. Yes counting is faster with electronic machines but its more accurate and faster to vote on a piece of paper. Sometimes old school works better.

You can write “procedures” to have a database do anything you want it to. database tables can get currupted true, but they also can be manipulated at the “views” so that what you see at the “GUI” interface is not really what’s happening in the database. We don’t have a federal system because that would be against the constitution. It says specifily the job of running the polling places, counting the votes, and how the elections should be run is up to the states.
80% of the vote is counted by some form of electric machine so if your implying that the machines are going to screw up because they are rigged in the those battleground states than I have some snake oil to sell you.

Finally a straight answer. How does it make you feel that we have no system to regulate the counting of votes on a federal level, in the event of voting machine screwup. What happens if multiple states with electronic voting fall on their faces. Guess which states will fail?? hint: same as it ever was..
